Bad Posture Club is a queer folk duo made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh. Originally from Northwestern Washington, they’ve toured nationally, as well as spent formative years in the Midwest music scene. Together they craft intricate and experimental harmonies with their two voices, banjo, guitar, and a 100 year old pump organ. Bad Posture Club invites the listener to hear the power in quiet, intimate music, and offers warmth and reflection through song. They are currently based in Anacortes, WA. Listen HERE

Simon Cropp is a flatpick guitarist and folk songwriter from Decorah, Iowa. His performance style is equal parts dive bar bravado and fireside introspection. His writing channels classic country themes of love, heartbreak, and landscape – winking at cliche without bending to it – to deliver a sound that is as comfortable on a front porch as it is on a festival stage. The Anacortes Music Project is thrilled to host our second poetry session. Join us on Sunday afternoons in a cozy, welcoming space where words are explored, ideas are shared, and creativity is encouraged.

Led by talented instuctor, Lyssa- this weekly workshop is designed for writers of all experience levels. Whether you’re brand new to poetry, returning to it after years away, or actively writing and looking to refine your voice, you’ll find inspiration and thoughtful conversation here. We’ll experiment with prompts, read and discuss work together, and gently workshop pieces in a supportive, community-centered environment.

Singer-songwriters are especially encouraged to join. This is a wonderful space to strengthen lyrical storytelling, sharpen imagery, and deepen emotional clarity in your writing.

Our session will conclude with a Poetry Showcase (date TBA), where participants will have the opportunity to share their work in a celebratory, low-pressure setting.
