Instructing:
x – Electronic/hybrid music
x – studio recording
x – bass
x – guitar

I grew up in Anacortes and attended my first local music show in eighth grade. I was immediately captivated and began learning guitar and bass soon after. I’ve been playing ever since.

In high school, I acquired a Boss 505 groove workstation. When I wasn’t locking myself in my room playing and recording on a four-track, I was wandering Value Village searching for obscure tapes to sample and loop. While attending university in Bellingham, Washington, I started a DIY record label and recording studio, which I ran for five years. After completing my degree, I pursued a master’s in creative writing, a path that ultimately led me into education.

I currently teach Digital Media at Anacortes High School, but I have long wanted to offer private music lessons at Buxton’s. I love Buxton’s—the possibilities within the space and the curiosity of the young people in this community.

Although my availability is limited, I am excited to offer private lessons in beginning and intermediate guitar and bass, recording, and music production. I am especially interested in working with students who are curious about hybrid music production—combining traditional instruments with electronic beats. If there is interest, I would also love to teach small group music production classes with two or three learners.

My goal is to encourage curiosity, experimentation, and creative confidence in any way I can. I look forward to connecting.

Teaches: violin

Learning to play music and having a good time doing it is the most important thing about
learning to play any instrument. I have been playing the violin for over 50 years and through all
my life travels, my violin has always led me to a great community of music lovers of all levels.
After substitute teaching elementary school for over 16 years, I realized that my love of music
and teaching were high on my list of favorite things to do. I then decided to combine the two
and teach beginning Violin/Theory. Looking forward to this fall in gathering other violinist in
the community that haven’t touch their violins for years and find joy in playing again. I have
been playing 2 nd violin with the Skagit Symphony for 10+ years and assisting and teaching with
AMP’s string camp in the summer.
